So you are thinking about new flooring for your house. There are so many new options and choices for flooring: carpet, tile, wood, laminate, LVT, natural stone, cork, leather, vinyl and other obscure floors. With so many options, why chose wood? In San Diego County, Carpet Country Flooring is the place to find any of these flooring choices.

Wood is a natural product. Wood floors are warm and comfortable. Wood is beautiful and full of character. Wood flooring fits into the look you want: contemporary or rustic, modern or country. Wood floors are ageless and sophisticated. Wood floors are ageless and seldom go out of style. Wood is unique. There are no two boards that are alike, yet when it’s installed a wood floor looks like fine art.

Once you decide on a wood floor, than you have to chose what type of wood floor you want or fit your needs and style. The first choice to make is Solid wood or engineered wood:

Solid hardwood: is a 100% solid wood that has no other element added to it. It is a hunk of wood, cut from a tree and milled and manipulated, sanded and stained, with different finishes applied to it either at the factory or at a customer’s home. A solid wood floor look is classic, and ageless. You see it often in older homes and historical homes and places. It comes in different sizes and thicknesses from two inches to ten , twelve and sometimes fifteen inches wide. And it can be made from 3/8″ thickness to 3/4″ of an inch and sometimes thicker. Although they don’t make all the wood species into solid wood floors, many are available on a custom order basis. Most solid hardwood flooring need to be nailed to a subfloor and is more susceptible to shrinking and expanding from excessive moisture and extreme temperature changes. Even though there are new glue systems on the market to glue the solid wood over concrete, it may be best not to do so. It is also not recommended to be installed below grade or basements. Out of all the wood floors sold in Southern California, only a small amount is solid hardwood. The rest is engineered.

Engineered Wood: is also 100% wood. It’s made with a veneer of various thicknesses supported underneath by different layers of same or other species wood layers. Its cross-ply construction allows installation below or above grade and even over concrete. It resists expansion and contraction caused by temperature and humidity changes. It is manufactured by permanently bonding together multiple layers of solid wood in a cross ply construction. Engineered hardwood is the only type of wood flooring that is typically recommended for use below grade. Engineered wood floors typically are installed glue down, nailed or floating.

Which one of these two would suit you best? How do you decide? This is where Carpet Country Staff and flooring experts can help you best. Our sales people can help you chose a wood with a higher hardness rating and a hand scraped look if you have a busy household with kids and pets and other company. Or finds you an elegant smooth finish rich looking Santos Mahogany if you would like an elegant look. This is where our wide selection and choices help you chose between a hand scraped Virginia Vintage, by Anderson or smooth finish maple by Mirage. We can help you decide the solid wood flooring would be a better fit for you over an engineered wood floor, or visa versa. We can tell you a 7″ wide plank is better fit for your lifestyle than a smooth finish 3″ strip.

Two of the most asked questions about wood are: Can we sand this floor and how hard is it? they ask because they are concerned about scratching and wear and tear. The answers are almost 90% of the engineered floors have enough of a wear layer that they can be sanded and when a wood floor is scratched, typically it’s just the finish that is scratched and not the wood itself.

Regardless whether it’s a solid wood floor or an engineered hardwood, they will both make your home cozy, warm and beautiful once our expert installers are finished installing it.

Most homeowners who are embarking on a new flooring project already have an idea of what they want, or even better, have a picture in their mind of what they like and what they want their home to look like when their project is completed.

Our job is always to try to bring that picture to life. We do that by listening to our customers and making sure that we understand that vision and find ways to accomplish it with the right product that will meet their needs, sense of style and environment. Whether we will recommend cork flooring instead of hardwood or a laminate floor instead of a vinyl floor or a polished travertine rather than a porcelain tile.

There are times when the customer has no clear idea or design style in mind. Either our sales staff or our in house designer will get involved and help direct the customer to something that they will love every time they open their door and walk into their home.

Customer service is not talking customers into purchasing carpet instead of a wooden floor because it maybe cheaper. Or selling them your five year old in stock oak floor when their house will look fabulous with the durable Jatoba. Customer service is providing people with someone they can trust to do their flooring project.

Customer service is providing the clients with newest styles and best name brand products available: Karastan and Masland carpets, Mirage and Anderson wood, Surface Arts tiles, Alloc Laminate, Gerflor vinyl and Cork and Leather flooring.

Customer service at carpet country flooring means making the same effort to accommodate a customer who wants to do one single room of flooring as we do handling a customer with a full house of new flooring. Unlike other flooring companies, we have always believed you treat every customer is as important as a million dollar customer.

Carpet Country Flooring is a full service company. We work with our customers remodel bathrooms, shower enclosures, countertops and backsplashes, in travertine, porcelain tile, glass and decorative tiles.

We work with our customers own plans or we help them redesign the layouts and help them pick new colors. We work with them on their full project at one time or do it in segments. We do the work during normal business hours or night time and week ends. Our service is to give our customers what they want when they want it at the best price and do it right.

With all the thousands of places and people who sell and install a new hardwood floor, remodel a shower, redo a kitchen granite counter, a beautiful Karastan carpet or a practical laminate floor, we have been successful because our goal has always been to do everything possible to make sure that every time our customers open the door and get into their homes they love our work all over again. That’s customer service.
